Electrodiagnostic Testing
Electrodiagnostic Testing:
We now offer state of the art electrodiagnostic
testing! These testing procedures help to accurately diagnose
and pinpoint problems related to nerves, muscles, the spinal
cord and brain. Just as an MRI or CT scan can reveal a very
detailed picture of a structural problem, electrodiagnostic
testing reveals precise information about nerve and muscle function .
A more accurate diagnosis allows for the best treatment.
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Numbness / Tingling
- Arm and Leg Pain
- Muscle Weakness
- Cold Hands and Feet
- Sciatica
- Pinched nerves
Electromyograms (EMG) are used to
record the electrical activity of muscles. When muscles are active,
they produce an electric current that is proportional to the level
of muscle activity. Needle EMGs are often performed when patients
have unexplained muscle weakness and can help distinguish weakness
due to a muscle problem or weakness due to a nerve disorder.
Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)
and Evoked Potential studies measure the speed and intensity of
electrical signals that travel through nerves, and calculates
the time and velocity in which muscles respond to these impulses.
