How Does Acupuncture Work?

According to Chinese Medicine, the human body’s energy flow ( “Qi” – pronounced Chee) courses over twelve meridians or channels that are normally well balanced. If a disruption of energy flow exists, either too much or too little, it can alter the entire system, producing dysfunction in the channel, either with pain or other symptoms in the body.
Acupuncture restores the balance of energy in the meridians, allowing the body to heal itself. Very thin needles are placed into specific points along affected meridians where energy is blocked, restoring the normal balance of Qi.
What if I am afraid of needles?
People who are afraid of needles can still be helped with acupuncture by using pressure, cold lasers or magnets to stimulate the points.
What type of needles do you use?
Rosanne Gregory, DC uses needles that are slightly larger than the diameter of a human hair. All needles used are sterile, single use and disposable for your safety and comfort.
How long does a treatment session last?
Typically, a treatment will last anywhere from 20-40 minutes.
Are acupuncture treatments covered by my insurance?
Unfortunately, very few insurance plans cover acupuncture treatments. Those that do often limit coverage to only a few diagnoses. South Windsor Neck & Back, LLC is happy to help patients verify their insurance coverage and we also provide affordable payment plans so patients can get the care that they need.
